Mel’s an octo-dad!

In what is surely an attempt to trump the achievements of his own father, who spawned 11 children, Mel Gibson has become a dad for the eighth time.
The star’s girlfriend, 39-year-old Oksana Grigorieva, gave birth to a girl on Friday, according to reports. The baby was born a few weeks early, but mother and child are both doing fine and back at home.
The star’s wife Robyn filed for divorce in April after 28 years of marriage, with Mel revealing the union had effectively ended in 2006. “When it's all said and done, I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage myself, you know,” he said in an interview earlier in the year. “I'm to blame. If you are inclined to judge, put it here.”
Meanwhile, with the Braveheart Blu-ray collector’s edition DVD out today – what timing! – Mel has been reminiscing about the making of the movie.
“I remember the premiere in Edinburgh,” he told Orange. “I'd never seen anything like it. There was so much feeling and fervour about the subject and about what it meant. It hit a chord. In every culture, no matter where you come from, you're looking for an identity and to have it displayed to the world.”
But he added that he hadn’t revisited the country in the 15 years since the movie was released. Why, Gibbo, why? ”I'm aware of what it did there, although I haven't gone back since, I'm afraid. I'd never get sober!”
